FOSTER FAMILY PLACEMENT
A caring family when returning home is not possible.
Overture works alongside IBESR to help prepare foster family placements and sustain support for children and caregivers.
The right plan for each child.
Some children cannot safely return to their parents or relatives. A prepared foster family can offer care, connection, and a place to belong while the child’s longer-term plan is developed and reviewed. Children entering foster care may have experienced separation, abuse, or significant trauma. Some live with disabilities or chronic illnesses. Their individual needs guide assessment, preparation, and placement planning, with attention to their views, relationships, health, and wellbeing.
Preparing families to welcome a child.
Overture supports recruiting and assessing prospective caregivers in coordination with IBESR. Social workers consider the household’s readiness, motivation, caregiving capacity, and support network. IBESR directs the required approval and placement processes.

Caregiver preparation includes child protection, positive caregiving, and understanding the effects of trauma and separation. Our team helps families prepare for the child they may welcome, including introductions and practical transition planning.

Supporting a child with complex needs.

Children with disabilities, chronic illnesses, or significant trauma may need additional caregiver preparation and sustained services. We work with families and relevant providers to coordinate support that can include healthcare, nutrition, psychological services, and case-based financial assistance, according to assessed needs and available resources.

Continuing the relationship.
After placement, social workers visit, listen, and review how the child and household are adjusting. Counseling, caregiver guidance, and coordination of services help families respond to challenges. Concerns are addressed with IBESR, which oversees placements and coordinates the wider support network. Overture contributes as one partner in that network.

Foster family care is part of an individual plan for the child’s future. Our team continues working with IBESR and the family to review needs and support safe, appropriate care over time.
