In the U.S., education changes lives. It opens doors, creates opportunities and provides children with a pathway to a brighter future. But in Haiti, education doesn’t just change lives, education is life. Without it, there is absolutely zero opportunity for life, which is why, at Overture, we boldly claim every fall that Education Means LIFE in Haiti!

Here’s why: in Haiti, education helps to protect children from being separated from their families. It provides solutions for parents who are facing seemingly impossible challenges. And it creates a sustainable foundation for entire communities to be self-sufficient and thrive.
This September, we're excited to invite you to invest in our annual Education Means LIFE fundraising effort. This critical initiative is built around our experience that when Haitian children stay in school, they also stay in their homes with their families (instead of being relinquished to an orphanage). And when families are educated and equipped to care for their children, countless lives and communities are transformed for generations.

Meet SARAPHINA.
Her whole life, Saraphina has dreamed of becoming a nurse, but that dream nearly slipped away before it ever began. Saraphina’s mother, Justine, works as a housekeeper and earns the equivalent of $76 a month while raising four children. Years earlier, Justine's own education ended when she became pregnant with Saraphina at just 19 years old. She herself never had the opportunity to finish school, but she has spent every day of the last two decades determined to give her daughter the future she never had. But that future seemed nearly impossible due to the cost of an education in Haiti, until she met Overture.

For the past six years, generous supporters like you have made hope and LIFE possible through an Overture scholarship that has kept Saraphina in school where she’s excelled academically and is now preparing for her final year of secondary school. Against all odds, Saraphina’s dream of becoming a nurse is within reach, which means her mother’s dream is also coming true!

"If Overture hadn't given me the scholarship, things would be much harder for me. I thank Overture so, so much, and I ask God to give you the strength and health to continue this work."
