St. Hubert's Quilt Ministry in Chanhassen Minnesota has made with love, 11 beautiful quilts. They have donated these quilts to the MN Haiti Mission Team who are offering them for auction. We are hoping to raise enough for the three vulnerable families below can receive a safe and secure home. The cost of each home is $6,000.
Ricky, age 9, has been reunited with his mother after being separated at the age of 5. Ricky’s mother left him at the orphanage because she could not provide basic support such as education, nutrition, medical care, and safe housing.
Currently with no employment, Ricky’s mother says that she lives on the account of God’s grace. "It's God who puts people in my way to help me," she says. “To be able to find food today, it was because someone gave me 500 gourdes during the week, then I don't know how I'm going to make it for the rest of the week.
Like all families in our Family Preservation program, Ricky’s mother will have access to education support for her child, family empowerment workshops where she will have the opportunity to improve personal and business skills, and counseling by licensed social workers.
James, age 12, was abandoned at the orphanage at the age of 7 by his father after his mother passed away. His father was unable to provide the basics supports to care for his children. James has now been reunited with his father, grandmother, and other siblings.
Only the grandmother is employed, working as a day laborer in the fields. She earns 100 gourdes per day (@$1.25). Sometimes she also buys crops and sells them in the market.
James’ grandmother will receive support to start a farm in addition to other services offered in our Family Preservation program.
Maikel, age 16, was placed in the orphanage by his parents at the age of 9. The family has several children and could not provide for basic supports such as education, nutrition, medical and safe shelter.
Maikel has now been reunited with his family and helps them with farming that serves as their only means of income and nutrition.
Maikel’s family will receive support to start a farm in addition to other services offered in our Family Preservation program.
